![]() Music Festival |
June 21 was the Music Festival in France. From big cities to small cities, music blared from buildings that night. Most of the bands will find a spot downtown for their performances. After work, we headed downtown and met Lucars, Julie and their friends. Once we got out from the metro station, various kinds of music bombarded our ears from different directions. Everyone was so excited for this annual event. People danced and sang where the music was played. In some areas, we barely found a way get in and out; people flooded Rouen city. Eventually, we found their friends' band; it was behind a church. It was a band with five or six members. Everyone danced all night long without restraint. This was my first time ever dancing in public.

Chase and I traveled to Dieppe, a small city about an hour from Rouen city. This was where Lucars and his girlfriend, Julie, came from. Weather in Dieppe was depressing; we walked in the rain for the whole day. Chase saw the ocean for the first time in Dieppe; he was so excited and walked toward the ocean. Lunch in Lucars' house was really good. We had lunch with his family. Later, we visited the castle near his house. From the castle, we could see all of Dieppe.
Time went fast; these are the last two weeks of my internship in Rouen. I was in Rouen for two months. I was busy with all the tests and reports. I tried to complete all the stuff before the start of the study abroad program. Dr. Negahban was here on June 26; we went through the result of my research and tried more tests to observe the fracture surface. Everyone in the lab was busy because this also was the last two weeks for students to complete their report and presentation. During the last two days of the internship, we had a lunch with all the faculty members in this lab. Students prepared the food, and I cooked curry pasta for that lunch. It was the last time I could meet all the people in our lab.
It was a great experience in this lab. I not only learned about my research but also tried to understand the culture in France. People in this lab helped me a lot. For instance, they taught me French, explained to me about the polycarbonate research, hung out with me, helped me with my visa problems and gave me all kinds of information in France. I felt so lucky to have worked with all the people here and experienced the research life in LECAP lab.
