Director's Welcome:
Welcome to the Charles W. Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction. The Durham School includes one of the top architectural engineering programs in the country and is the only program in the nation that combines architectural engineering, construction engineering and construction management in one school. The Durham School is a part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering.
The Durham School's Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Construction Management programs are taught at the Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha, and the Construction Management program is also offered on the UNL campus in Lincoln. The Peter Kiewit Institute in Omaha is designed to facilitate building education by exposing systems and structure to provide a 'living laboratory' environment. Among the Peter Kiewit Institute's teaching facilities are several labs focused on building facilities, including a structures lab, a lighting and electrical systems lab, a building information management lab and a building mechanical systems lab.
The demand for graduates of the Durham School's programs is very high, because the building design and construction industries are among the largest in the nation, while only a minority of universities offer education in these fields. There are numerous internship opportunities with design and construction firms, especially with Nebraska's concentration of firms in these areas.
I urge you to explore our web site and, after your virtual visit, contact us by e-mail (Alma Ramirez Rodgers) or phone (402) 554-3618 to visit us in person. I invite you to learn more about our programs and to become part of our vibrant and growing community.
