About Charles W. Durham:
Charles "Chuck" Durham is the retired chairman and CEO of HDR, Inc., an international engineering firm that employs over 5,000 people at more than 130 locations. Headquartered in Omaha, the company is ranked 19th among Engineering News-Record's "Top 500 Design Firms".
A longtime Omaha business and civic leader, Charles Durham is among the most generous benefactors to the University of Nebraska. His support has elevated the university in the areas of medical research, patient care and surgery, as well as in the education of science, information technology, architectural engineering and construction.
He and his late wife, Margre Durham, established the Durham Foundation which made the initial major gift to the school. Combined with gift commitments from several other donors, the Durham School is close to its goal of raising $30 million to provide program support including endowed faculty awards, graduate fellowships, scholarships and general program enhancements. Because of generous private support and its close affiliation with design and construction industry, many of which are located in Omaha, the Durham School is expected to be the premier school of its kind.
