Q: Do I need to be accepted into the STEP program?
A: No. The STEP program serves as a guide for students to follow. There are no required tests or forms to fill out. Simply visit with your advisor and let him/her know you are interested in pursuing the program's guide.

Q: How much does it cost to be a part of the STEP program?
A: It does not cost anything extra to be a part of the STEP program.

Q: What is it like being a student at UNL?
A: You will find life on the UNL campus fun, exciting, challenging ...why not check it out for yourself at www.unl.edu

Q: Will all of my credits transfer to UNL from my community college?
A: Maybe. The STEP program is designed to streamline the process, but it is not a guarantee that all credits from the community college will transfer. Students should visit with their advisor or contact the STEP coordinator at step@unl.edu with specific questions.

Q: When do I need to enroll at UNL?
A: Most students are admitted into the UNL College of Engineering six months to one year before they transfer. For more information on transfer deadlines visit: http://admissions.unl.edu/apply/transfer.asp

Q: Who do I talk to about transferring to UNL?
A: The office of admissions handles all transfer student admissions questions. They can be reached at 1-800-742-8800.

Q: Is there a checklist of requirements for transferring to UNL?
A: Yes. Contact the office of admissions to discuss all requirements for transferring to UNL. Or, visit their web-site at: http://admissions.unl.edu/apply/transfer.asp

Q: Is there a guide to see what courses will transfer from my community college?
A: Yes. The course equivalency page will tell you what courses are accepted at UNL form your specific community college. Find your community college at http://admissions.unl.edu/tequiv

Q: Am I "duel enrolled" with my community college and UNL?
A: No, Engineering courses taken at the community colleges in the STEP program are recognized by UNL and will transfer. Students will still need to transfer to UNL.

Q: Will I graduate at the same time as my peers if I go through the STEP program?
A: Maybe. The STEP program is designed such that a student should be able to transfer into UNL as a "true Junior" and graduate with his or her peers. Of course individual efforts play a large part in a student's success!

Q: Is an internship required?
A: No. However it is strongly encouraged as internships provide excellent opportunities for students to gain practical experience. Many employers now require internship experience for full time employment.
