In 1909, Nebraska's state legislature designated at the University of Nebraska a College of Engineering, separate from the earlier Industrial College. One hundred years later, the College of Engineering has grown with the university to attract and educate the brightest minds of this state and beyond. More than 16,500 alumni have successfully developed their skills through Nebraska Engineering degree programs with rigorous and meaningful studies at the college's Lincoln and Omaha campuses. Engineering as a profession has become a driver of our nation's capabilities to innovate ideas, create solutions, and build structures that enhance quality of life amid a changing and complex world. The benefits of Nebraska Engineering research have generated advances for the greater good of science as well as entrepreneurial and partnership opportunities.
