Alumnus Discovers Hometown Connection in Engineering@Nebraska

I was looking at the spring issue of Engineering@Nebraska when I noticed an article on page seven entitled “Lowe Crowned Homecoming King.” The article was of interest as the subject of the article, Jason Lowe, and I have the same last name, my hometown was also Ainsworth, and I also graduated from UNL with a BSME (1967 grad, 1966 E-Week co-chairman for the ME department). The young man in the article and I are not related, and Ainsworth is a small town. I wish Jason well.

My engineering education from UNL has served me well as I approach retirement in June of this year. After graduation, I started work at the commercial nuclear division of Babcock & Wilcox, now AREVA. I continued to work in the nuclear industry doing accident analysis in support of nuclear power plant operation, including a 2 1/2 year work stint in Germany. Although I call Virginia home now, my Nebraska roots have not been forgotten.
