William Holmes

William Holmes photoWilliam Holmes, associate professor, has served on the faculty of the College of Engineering since 1976 in the Construction Systems Department. His degrees are from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

A registered professional architect, he has more than 30 years of experience in the design and the development of construction documents. He has conducted alternative energy research and development and has specialized in educational facilities planning. While in industry, he held staff positions in three architecture/engineering consulting firms and served as a consultant to several others.

 

At UNL, Holmes’ research and professional interest are in microcomputer applications in building design and construction, computerized systems for information processing in design and construction, computer graphics, computer-aided-design and drafting systems (CADD), microcomputer systems integration, architectural design, and technical writing and illustration. Throughout his years with the college, he has taught courses in software applications for computational analysis in construction, construction drawing, and construction fundamentals.

In 2004, Holmes was named the UNL Alumni Association College of Engineering Faculty of the Year, as he worked at the college’s Omaha campus.
