The Durham School hosts ASC international conference
UNL's Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction hosted the Associated Schools of Construction 2011 Conference, April 6-9 in Omaha.
Nearly 200 ASC members attended, representing institutions of construction education and interested industry professionals. Alumnus Joe Lempka, president of Kiewit Building Group, was a featured speaker. ASC's president is Chuck Berryman, associate professor with The Durham School. Conference sessions included an invited panel discussion, which was especially valued by attendees in their feedback.
“Hosting the 47th ASC International Conference was significant for The Durham School as it provided an opportunity for the school to showcase its Omaha campus facility, The Peter Kiewit Institute,” said Director Eddy Rojas, who led guests in a toast at the event. Conference-goers boarded shuttles from Omaha’s Hilton Hotel to The Peter Kiewit Institute to attend the conference reception, when DSAEC faculty and students had the opportunity to share their research with peers from other universities from other nations and U.S. regions.
Rojas added: “The ASC Conference was a great success. Our guests were impressed with Omaha, The Durham School, and The Peter Kiewit Institute.”
