Allen Receives THH PIAN Medal

David Allen, dean of the College of Engineering, received the 2008 THH PIAN Medal from the International Conference on Computational and Experimental Engineering & Sciences. The award, named for Theodore Pian, a professor at MIT for nearly 50 years, is in honor of Allen's distinguished contributions to computational mechanics of inelastic materials at various length scales. The medal was awarded at the 2008 conference in Honolulu in March 2008.
