More than 30 chemical engineering students took time on a fall afternoon to work alongside several members of the department’s industry advisory board on a project to help improve a city park in Lincoln. They cleaned up plantings and spread mulch at Pentzer Park, a mile from UNL. When the work was done they enjoyed snacks and socialized.

CHME Advisory Board leader Jay Frazer, an alumnus who works with Cargill, said: “This volunteer activity, in conjunction with Jim Portis and the Lincoln Parks and Recreation team, allowed time for the advisory board members and the students to get to know each other while working hard together and giving back to the community.” Frazer added, “I was proud to see everyone having a lot of fun while making a B1G impact.”
