College of Engineering Purchase Request Form (.xls) (.pdf)
Use this form to order any goods or services regardless of vendor, internal or external to the university. Complete the form and email it to your FSR. Your FSR will ensure that the order is place timely and that the cost is incorporated into your monthly financial statement reconciliations. Your FSR will process receiving forms and ensure delivery.
UNL Travel Authorization
Use this form to request travel status. This form must be signed by your department chair PRIOR to the trip and provides documentation of official university business travel for audit and risk management purposes. When submitted to EAS, your FSR will return to the traveler a CoET Travel Envelope to use during the trip. When the trip is complete, simple insert receipts into the envelope and return it to your FSR. The FSR will complete the expense voucher and email it to you for your approval. Sign the voucher, give it to your FSR and the process is complete.
College of Engineering Request to Transfer Expenses
Use this form to move expenditures from one cost object to another. Ample documentation must be provided to justify the expense on the destination cost object. The FSR will perform the transfer in a timely manner. Use the CoET HR Action Request for personnel cost transfers.
University of Nebraska Independent Contractor Agreement Form
Use this form when hiring a consultant. Complete the scope of work and compensation sections and send to the contractor for signature. Forward the signed original to your FSR along with a completed Purchase Request. A Consultant must be eligible to work in the US and cannot be a UNL employee. Your FSR can help you in the case of unusual circumstances.
College of Engineering-Request for Travel Funds Form
Use this form to request College travel funding to support faculty endeavors designed to enhance externally funded research activities. It is expected the faculty member and department will provide no less than 50% of the cost of travel. As outlined on the form, a written report must be returned to the Associate Dean for Research within ten days upon return. Please complete the form and forward it to the CoE Research Administrative Technician or Research Coordinator in order to obtain CoE signature and cost object.

You must use this form when hiring any position that does not require a formal search process.
College of Engineering Apportionment Agreement
Use this form to formally document the proportional break-out with regard to teaching, research, service, administration and extension for all CoET faculty.
Grants and Contracts
Budget Template
Use this template to help you prepare a detailed budget for you projects. You may need to format the results differently, depending on your funding agency. However, this is a great tool to make sure you are asking for the resources you need.
Offer Letters
The following offer letters must be used when extending employment opportunities to prospective college employees. Use may need to make small revisions if appropriate. [Bracketed] language is case specific. Additional language may be necessary when funding or partial funding for the position or start-up comes from a source external to the college. Offers for the following positions require a formal search process. Justifications for exceptions to this requirement must be approved by the Office of Equity, Access and Diversity Programs. Regardless, a PeopleAdmin requisition is must be completed as part of the recruiting and hiring process:
Faculty Offer Letters
Faculty Offers with TenureThis offer letter template is to be used when hiring a ranked professor with tenure. Offers made with tenure require approval from department and college T&P committees. Formal voting tallies must be recorded and routed with draft offer letters. Additional requirement include a Westlaw search and recording responses from both the applicant and references to a specific question. Contact Toni Luebbe or Kevin Butler for assistance in this process. The applicant must also be interviewed by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Tenure Track Faculty
This offer letter template is to be used when hiring tenure track faculty. Mandatory review dates are in the sixth year (add 5 to the fiscal year when employment begins). If tenure is denied, they cannot be employed beyond the seventh year (add 6 to the fiscal year when employment begins).
Visiting [Assistant/Associate] Professor
This offer letter template is to be used when hiring a visiting professor. Appointment as a visiting assistant, visiting associate, or visiting full professor at or above 0.5 FTE is limited to three years of service within a five-year period. Such appointments at 0.5 FTE or greater are ordinarily eligible for NUFlex, but not retirement benefits.
Non-Salaried Visiting [Assistant/Associate] Professor
Research [Assistant/Associate] Professor
Offers for the following positions may utilize the full search procedure through PeopleAdmin. However, it is not required if the appointment will be for a period not greater than 2 years. Research assistant, associate, or (full) professor appointments are non-tenure-track appointments; contracts may be written for terms of 1 to 3 years (or in exceptional cases, for longer terms) and are renewable (or not); as non-tenure-track faculty, research assistant, associate, and (full) professors are not subject to the 7-year limitation on length of service
Post Doctorate Research Associate
This offer letter template is to be used when hiring a Post Doctorate Research Associate. University policy allows for the appointment of post doctoral research associates without a search. However, if a post doctoral research associate has not been recruited and appointed through the UNL applicant search process, under no circumstances will a search waiver be granted to change the appointment terms to a regular faculty position, e.g. senior research associate, research assistant professor. Post doctoral research associates must be on annual appointments, and may be appointed for a maximum of five years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Lecturers and Senior Lecturer
Use this template for offers to Lecturers or Senior Lectures who will be permanent employees. Senior Lectures must hold a terminal degree and substantial instructional experience. . Lecturers are non-tenure-track faculty on term contracts. Contracts for lecturers may be written for terms of 1 to 3 years (or in exceptional cases, for longer terms) and are renewable (or not); as non-tenure-track faculty, lecturers are not subject to the 7-year limitation on length of service. Contracts for senior lecturers may be written for terms of 1 to 3 years (or in exceptional cases, for longer terms) and are renewable (or not); as non-tenure-track faculty, senior lecturers are not subject to the 7-year limitation on length of service.
Temporary Lecturer
This offer letter template is to be used when hiring a Temporary Lecturer. Lecturers/T would be instructional faculty on non-tenure-track term contracts of less than one year; employment as a lecturer/T is limited to contracts encompassing two successive academic years. Lecturers/T are not eligible for retirement benefits, but they ordinarily would be eligible for NUFlex participation following (the shorter of) one full semester or six months of service if their appointments are at 0.5 FTE or greater.
