N.U.B.E. camp is an overnight retreat that gives new engineering students a head start in their transition to college. The camp will give incoming first-year students the opportunity to meet fellow classmates, faculty, and staff. There will be a variety of social activities, interactive team building, and important information.

When is N.U.B.E. Camp?

Wednesday, Aug. 20 -
Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008.

Students start camp on their respective campus (Lincoln or Omaha) the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 20. During this time, students will participate in pre-camp activities designated by their campus. Then, all students, faculty and staff will board buses and meet at Camp Kitaki in Louisville, Neb., for more than 24 hours of outdoor adventures and team building exercises. Students return to their home campus the evening of Thursday, Aug. 21 in time for dinner.

And don't forget that more exciting activities are planned before classes begin. UNO Durango Days are scheduled for August 21-22, and UNL's Big Red Welcome is August 22-24.

Is there a fee?

Yes, a fee of $40.00 will be collected. The fee covers meals, housing, transportation, and program materials.

How do I sign up?

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be admitted in the College of Engineering on either the Omaha or Lincoln campus
  • Be enrolled in the College of Engineering and registered for classes before Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2008.

Moving to Campus Early

A fee will be assessed to you by the housing department for early check-in. Please give yourself enough time to move into your room so that you can arrive at pre-N.U.B.E. Camp activities as outlined in the itinerary.

Omaha
If you are from out-of-town, are signed up to live on campus in either Scott Hall, University Village or Maverick Village and would like to move in before Aug. 20 so that you may participate in this program, please contact your residence hall director by July 25, 2008 to schedule an early move in. You may be charged a fee for each day.

Lincoln
If you are signed up to live in a residence hall on the Lincoln campus and would like to move in before Aug. 21 at 8 a.m. please indicate on the online registration form if you plan to move in on Aug. 19 or 20. You may not move into the residence halls earlier than Aug. 19. We will notify the housing department of your early arrival.

You must bring a check or cash with you to pay the front desk worker of your residence hall the day you move in. The fees charged for early move in are as follows:

UNL Residence Hall early move-in fee (depending on what you are contracted for):
$17 per day for a double room
$34 per day for a single room
