Discover Engineering Days welcome future engineers from Nebraska middle schools

Middle school students swarmed UNL's East Campus for the annual Discover Engineering Days in April. They rode a hovercraft and built their own mini-hovercrafts. They also constructed bridges from newspapers, and explored processes to help make cleaner water. UNL College of Engineering students led the learning for more than 300 guests from local schools. Andre Fortune, the college's director of recruiting and retention, said the program gets young students "hands-on with engineering" and increases their familiarity with Nebraska Engineering programs.
