Chi Epsilon is the National Civil Engineering Honor Society. Since its founding, the national organization has recognized over 97,000 members. University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s chapter was founded the 13th of May 1961, the 53rd chapter to be established since the original at the University of Illinois in 1922. Membership is based on four primary requirements: Scholarship, Character, Practicality, and Sociability. Chi Epsilon is dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of Civil Engineering as an ideal profession.

Each year a regional or national conclave is held, where Chi Epsilon members and professionals from around the nation can meet and enhance their knowledge of civil engineering and leadership. Attending the conclaves have benefited providing new ideas in developing our chapter and strengthening the Civil Engineering Department.
