Dr. Rilett is an internationally renowned researcher and specializes in multimodal transportation systems analysis, transportation planning and operations, dynamic network modeling and optimization, and Intelligent Transportation Systems applications. He has been a principal investigator or co-principal investigator on more than 20 research projects and has received funding from the Advanced Technology Program, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Federal Railway Administration, the Federal Highway Administration and the Canadian Natural Sciences and Engineering Council.
He has authored or co-authored more than 40 refereed journal papers and 50 conference papers and serves as associate editor for the ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering. Dr. Rilett places a high premium on teaching and brings current research and field practices to the classroom. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, risk analysis and transportation planning and has served as chair on 27 master and 15 Ph.D. dissertation committees. He has also received two teaching excellence awards.
