Dear Civil Engineering Alumni and Friends:

Greetings from the students, faculty and staff in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We want to welcome you again to Nebraska Civil Engineering. Our undergraduate program currently consists of about 300 students that represent some of the brightest young men and women from locations throughout Nebraska, North America and the rest of world. We are always comforted by the fact that our students remain in very high demand by many national and international engineering companies. They continue to score at the top of the national civil engineering exams and many of them have gone on to other prestigious graduate programs. The success of our graduates continues to be our constant source of pride.

In addition to our undergraduate program, our Department is the home of two outstanding graduate programs in civil engineering and environmental engineering. Our graduate program in civil engineering has a long tradition of excellence that is nearly one hundred years old and our multidisciplinary graduate program in environmental engineering is now about six years old. Currently, we have about 75 graduate students seeking master of science and doctoral degrees in civil engineering or environmental engineering. Both of our graduate programs are solidly grounded in a balanced mix of teaching and graduate research.

The foundation of all strong engineering programs is their faculty. Without an exception, the faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering represent some of the most qualified individuals anywhere. All of our faculty members believe that our academic program is our highest priority. In addition, every one of them is engaged in research and discovery in his/her respective area of specialization. In doing so, they continue to bring the frontiers of research to the classroom and engage our undergraduate and graduate students in the pursuit of knowledge.

We want to extend our most sincere appreciation to the thousands of Nebraska Civil Engineering alumni and friends that continue to support, and believe in, the mission of our Department. We truly believe that the success and strength of our alumni are the primary gauges of our program success. We continue to derive a great deal of satisfaction in observing the continued success of all of our past students.
