After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Schade spent five years as Senior Development Engineer at Honeywell, and then joined UNL in 1979. He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Automatic control and stability, probabilistic design of mechanical systems and automatic controls. Probabilistic mechanical design may deal with the reliability of the assembly of a mechanocal system whose components are individually produced with random values or may deal with the useful life of a system whose components are subject to hazard during normal operation after assembly. The probabilistic design process involves optimization of a trade-off of cost versus reliability.
